Carlson Harris History

HISTORY

Carlson Harris is a fourth-generation general contracting firm, whose history in the United States started in 1900.

It was then that Oscar Carlson immigrated from Sweden to Nebraska, bringing his valuable building skills to start a new chapter in his life. In 1927, Oscar founded Carlson Construction, laying the groundwork for the proud family tradition of QUALITY FIRST.

In 1949, after 22 successful years, Oscar’s son Milton took the helm with his young sons Gary and Ric in tow. His boys had a keen interest in the business, and were ready to take over 24 years later when Milton decided to retire.

Anxious to pursue their careers and dreaming of warmer weather, Gary and Ric relocated to Naples, Florida. Armed with years of experience and insight gained while working with his dad, Gary founded Carlson Harris General Contractors with his brother Ric by his side.

Gary’s son Chris, the fourth generation Carlson, came on board in 1982 to carry on the family tradition of quality craftsmanship. Chris has progressed through the ranks to his current position of President as well as head of Residential Construction.

Growing steadily from a small company concentrating on elegant custom residences, Carlson Harris eventually expanded into the commercial and institutional market places to become the multi-faceted organization that it is today.

Years of experience, extraordinary expertise, a strong internal team and outstanding customer service adhering to the QUALITY FIRST family tradition, has earned Carlson Harris a reputation as one of the most trusted, detail-oriented and finest builders in Southwest Florida.
